My story began in Havana, Cuba, where I studied veterinary medicine and developed an interest in science and research. When I immigrated to the United States, I faced the challenge of starting over and finding a new professional path in an unfamiliar country.

My journey took me through Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. I arrived with many dreams in a suitcase and the determination to keep moving forward. My first job in the United States was in housekeeping at a Hilton hotel. For two years, I learned firsthand the discipline, effort, and attention to detail that the cleaning industry requires. What began as my first job became the doorway to a new calling.

I decided to build a path of my own. I worked on cleaning projects and with franchises, focusing on commercial settings, including offices and clinics. With every project, I gained experience coordinating services, managing commercial accounts, and building professional relationships.

In 2024, a work opportunity in Fort Myers after a cyclone brought me closer to construction companies and projects. I saw a new path and chose to pursue it, moving into flooring installation, tile work, and bathroom and kitchen renovations. It was not always easy. Some people doubted that a woman could make her way in the construction industry. I answered with hard work, determination, and a commitment to keep learning, one project at a time.

YAMILUX carries my family in its name. My mother helped me create “Yami Lux” and helped lay the foundation for this dream. Before she passed away, she asked me not to give up. Every step I take today honors her memory and the support she gave me as I built this company.

Today, I work alongside general contractors and give every project my best. My goal is to keep strengthening YAMILUX and, in time, become a general contractor. I do not tell this story as if the journey is over. I tell it because I am still building: my company, my future, and a legacy that carries my family’s name.
